2006-07-13 Team Ontario departs for 2006 Commonwealth Youth Wrestling Championships
Toronto, Ontario: Ontario's Under-18 team leaves today for Glasgow Scotland to represent Canada in the inaugural
Commonwealth Youth Wrestling Championships.
Team Ontario has been competing and training in Guelph since July 6th in preparation for the trip to Scotland. They competed in the 2006
Pre-Junior (under 18) Canada Cup where the Men's Team placed second behind the Canadian National Team and the Women's Team placed
third behind Canada and Sweden. Following that competition wrap up on July 8th, the team stayed in Guelph for the National Team Training
Camp for four days in final preparation for the Commonwealth Championships. Many of the Canadian National Team competitors were also
from Ontario and depart the camp shortly for other events in Banff for the Women and Cuba for the men.
Team Ontario flies to Scotland today for the Commonwealth Youth Wrestling Championships in Glasgow July 15-16th and the Scottish Open
July 20th, also in Glasgow. In between the competitions, the Team will attend a mini camp featuring Canadian World Champion and Olympic
Silver Medalist Giuvi Sissaouri.

Team Ontario was selected based on athlete's performance at the 2006 Provincial and National Championships. They have been involved
in a three month training program leading up to this point including team camps and working with their home clubs as well. The team is made up
