Wrestling Canada Lutte Wrestlers to Compete on Tours to Colorado Springs and Paris

January 27, 2015

(January 27, 2015) Ottawa – Wrestling Canada Lutte has announced the team-members competing January 28-31 at the 2015 Dave Schultz Memorial International in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA and January 31-February 1 at the 2015 Grand Prix of Paris in France.

“As our team looks towards the 2015 Canadian Championships, an event that will largely decide the top athletes heading to this summer’s Pan Am Games, the competition experience and performances become all too important,“ says Wrestling Canada Lutte Executive Director Tamara Medwidsky. “As our athletes head out internationally in 2015, we are always mindful of the road to TO2015 and Rio 2016.”

The Colorado Springs event is a tournament representing the spirit of friendship, sportsmanship and goodwill that the late American wrestler Dave Schultz exemplified. Twenty nine athletes will be supported by a coaching and medical staff. Leading the team will be 2014 Commonwealth Games Champions Korey Jarvis (125 kg), Arjun Gill (97 kg) and 2010 Commonwealth Games Champion Justine Bouchard. Among the other team-members are 2014 Commonwealth Games Bronze Medalist Braxton Stone-Papadopoulos (63 kg).

In Paris, the small team is led by two-time Olympian Haislan Garcia (08, 12) who will be joined by John Pineda, Manjot Sandhu, Shawn Daye-Finley and Samantha Stewart. The event will take place at the Palais des sports « Robert Charpentier » and will be followed by a training camp.
