OTTAWA, ON – The 2024 Canadian Wrestling Championships (Senior, Junior U20, Cadet U17) officially kicked off on March 14th, from TD Place in Ottawa with the Cadet men and women taking to the mats. It was a great start to the event as spectators filled the stands to see some of Canada’s up and coming stars.

Cadet Women

At the end of the day, it was Ontario that reigned supreme on the women’s side with 43 total points to win the Provincial Team Award. The province featured three gold medalists, including: Manavi Asthana, from Independent WC, Adsaya Piranavan, from Team Impact, and Charlotte Bowslaugh, from Brock Jr. Badgers. Second went to British Columbia with 35 points.

Winning the Cadet women’s Club Team Award was Saskatoon Junior Huskies, with 20 points, edging out British Columbia’s Coast Wrestling Academy, who finished second with 19 points.

Most Outstanding Wrestler went to Kaura Coles from WAMMA WC in Winnipeg. Coles took the gold in the 53kg weight class.

Cadet Men

The men’s side saw Ontario earn the Provincial Team Award. The province had a great performance and topped the standings with 58 points. They featured five total gold medalists: Tayim Dacha, from Matmen WC, Benny Remillard, from Tri-City Wrestling, Aaharen Piranavan, from Team Impact, Nathan Nash, from Team Discipline, and Ryan Dahcha, from Matmen WC.

The Club Team Award went to Manitoba’s Schewa WC, who tallied 17 points. That was one better than Coast Wrestling Academy.

The Cadet Most Outstanding Wrestler went to Liam Gorton, from Coast Wrestling Academy in Vancouver, who took gold in the 65kg weight class.
