Canadian team wraps up U23 World Championships
NOVI SAD, SERBIA – The Canadian U23 team was in Novi Sad, Serbia, from Oct. 20-27, competing at the 2025 U23 World Championships. While the results may not have been what the wrestlers wanted, they still carried themselves well, proudly representing the maple leaf.
Women’s Results
The top finish on the women’s side went to Edmonton’s Vianne Rouleau who finished seventh at 72kg. Ajax, Ontario’s Nyla Burgess also notched a top 10 finish, ending the tournament ninth overall at 76kg. Hamilton’s Olivia Lichti was 12th at 59kg; Stoney Creek, Ontario’s Serena Di Benedetto was 13th at 53kg; Calgary’s Annika Fines was 13th at 62kg; Lethbridge, Alberta’s Angelina Eliis-Toddington was 13th at 68kg; St. Catharines, Ontario’s Mia Friesen was 15th at 57kg; Montreal’s Sophia Bechard was 17th at 55kg; Sherwood Park, Alberta’s Maria Sawiak was 17th at 65kg; and Chestermere, Alberta’s Madison Mackenzie was 24th at 50kg.
Men’s Results
Saskatoon’s Judah Arthurs and Winnipeg’s Sam Pereira shared the top finish for the men, each ending the event in ninth, Arthurs at 92kg and Pereira at 97kg. Pickering, Ontario’s Blayne Helou was 10th at 61kg; Abbotsford, British Columbia’s Jorawar Dhinsa was 15th at 125kg; Montreal’s Connor Church was 18th at 79kg; Surrey, British Columbia’s Sehajpal Sidhu was 21st at 74kg; Mississauga, Ontario’s Ryan Dahcha was 24th at 65kg; Guelph, Ontario’s Cole Coghill was 25th at 70kg; and Edmonton’s Aidan Stevenson was 26th at 86kg.
