ISTANBUL, TURKIYE – Canadian wrestlers are set for the final World Olympic Qualifier this week, May 9-12, in Istanbul, Turkiye. This will be the final opportunity for wrestlers to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After qualifying five athletes at the Pan-American Olympic Qualifiers, Feb. 28 – March 1, in Mexico, Canada will look to add to the Paris roster at this final Qualifier. In total, Canada will send nine athletes across the three styles (Men’s Greco-Roman, Men’s Freestyle and Women’s Wrestling). The top three from each weight class will qualify for Paris 2024. The two winners of a weight class’s semifinals will automatically qualify. The tournament will feature a repechage and the two bronze medal winners will square off for the final spot.

The tournament begins on Thursday, May 9^th with the Greco-Roman preliminary and qualification rounds. The Greco-Roman repechage, bronze and true third match will take place on May 10^th. The Women’s preliminary and qualification rounds are scheduled for May 10^th, with their repechage, bronze and true third matches set for the 11^th. The Men’s Freestyle concludes the event with the preliminary and qualification rounds on May 11th and the repechage, bronze and true third matches set for May 12^th.
