(Belgrade, Serbia) – United World Wrestling (UWW) held its Congress on October 31 and Don Ryan was one of two newly elected members of the bureau, who will serve until 2026. The congress was originally scheduled to be held in 2020 at the Junior World Championships in Tallin, Estonia but was postponed due to COVID-19.

“I’m excited to work with President Lalovic and the members of the UWW bureau and our staff. My experience with Wrestling Canada Lutte and UWW Americas has prepared me for this challenge”, said Ryan.

Ryan, recently concluded his final term as President with Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) in July 2021, after serving in that role since 2011. He also served on the UWW Americas Council from 2013 to 2021.

The Congress also saw the re-election of Nenad Lalovic as President, as well as five other bureau members, in addition to Ryan. The Congress gathers every two years to discuss a range of topics and in Belgrade UWW presented new initiatives as part of the 2022-2026 strategy including, women’s wrestling, promotion of associated styles, youth engagement, the image of wrestling and digital transformation.
