About Heather Hynes:
Heather Hynes is a Registered Dietitian with the Sport Medicine and Science
Council of Saskatchewan and the Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan. She has been working with the Council since May 2002.
Heather was the sport nutrition lead with Own the Podium from 2011 to 2013. In 2018, Heather completed her written exam to be a board-certified specialist in sport dietetics (CSSD) and re-certified in 2023.
Heather has been providing guidance and support with weight class athletes and clubs since the start of her career. Starting in April 2022 she took on the lead nutrition role with Wrestling Canada Lutte.
In addition, since January 2020 Heather has been part of the ParaSport working group (Own the Podium and now Sport Scientist Canada). In early 2024 she completed her Area of Focus Competence (AFC) in Para sport.
She has also been a member of five Canada Games teams as an athlete (swimming), a team manager (sailing) and mission staff for Saskatchewan. She has also been involved with five North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) teams with Saskatchewan.
Finally, from the fall of 2007 to July 2016, she was a doping control officer with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, and was part of the VANOC anti-doping team in Whistler for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Heather completed her undergraduate degree in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition at the University of Saskatchewan in 2002. She also completed her Masters of Science in Kinesiology in 2009 at the University of Saskatchewan with a focus on carbohydrate metabolism during exercise with para sport athletes.
