About David Lopez:

David (pronounced “Dah-veed”), a three-time national wrestling champion from Mexico, was inspired by his father, a track and field coach, to pursue a career in coaching. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Teacher Development), a Diploma in Sport Sciences and High Performance (PASO-COI), and a Master’s in Sport Analytics (Spain).

Since 1992, David has coached at every level in Mexico, from grassroots to state head coach, and even in charge of the Cadet national team in 2009. In 1998, he became a coach educator in the licensed Mexican version of the NCCP.

His work in Wrestling Analytics for UWW during the 2010s and later with Wrestling Canada provided critical data for high-performance programs, athlete benchmarking, gap analysis, and opponent scouting. His contributions extended to NCCP’s coach education programs.

Internationally, David worked with UWW’s development department for several years, managing international collaborations, analytics, and coach education programs. He helped deliver training across the globe, from emerging wrestling nations like the Philippines and South Africa to top-tier countries such as the USA and Japan, especially following the success of the Save Wrestling program.

David specializes in Movement Analysis, statistics, and Coach Development, holding certifications in Kineanthropometrics (ISAK) and Sports Psychology. His passion for research has led to numerous publications on wrestling analytics and performance patterns, all driven by his love for advancing the sport and sharing his insights with others.
