Five Canadians to compete in final ranking series in Poland
WARSAW, Poland – Canada’s two Tokyo bound women’s wrestlers Erica Wiebe and Danielle Lappage will be joined by three Canadian teammates to compete at the final Ranking Series event of the year, the Poland Open.
The event runs from June 8 to June 13 in Warsaw and will welcome over 365 athletes from 44 nations.
Wiebe and Lappage will be joined by Canadian teammates Sam Stewart, Tianna Kennett and Ana Godinez.
The Poland Open will have ranking implications on the remaining 2021 event calendar. In addition to serving as the final point-scoring event for seeding (top four) at the Tokyo Olympic Games, the event will also help determine the seeding for October’s Oslo World Championships.
Godinez and Wiebe will wrestle on June 10, and Stewart, Kennett, and Lappage on June 11.
