Update on upcoming changes to Making Ethical Decisions Multi-Sport Module
Starting April 1, 2026, coaches will no longer have access to the current Make Ethical Decisions (MED) online evaluation module, nor the NCCP multi-sport MED training. Coaches will be required to access this through an e-learning module in The Locker. This is similar to what you have to do with the CAC Safe Sport module and the Making Headway in Sport module.
The new Make Ethical Decisions e-learning module will feature both the training and evaluation. We have created a frequently asked questions (F.A.Q.) below on how this will affect wrestling coaches going forward:
What is the bottom line?
Get your Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation done by February or early March, if at all possible!
How does this impact the WCL Safe Sport Requirements for national championships?
All coaches will still be required to complete the Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation once every four (4) years. What is changing is how coaches can meet that requirement.
I last took the Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation in 2022, and I need to redo it ahead of the 2026 national championships, what should I do?
Redo the online evaluation before April 1st, 2026. If you already took the Make Ethical Decisions training (i.e., workshop) in the past, then you can do it for free ahead of time!
What if I already took the Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation recently, and I do not need to worry for any of the 2026 national championships?
We suggest that you re-take the online evaluation before April 1st, 2026 anyways. Anyone who had already passed the evaluation and needs to re-take it after that date will need to take the new e-learning module once, and only once, at a cost of $85.
This way, if you redo the Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation now, you can put off paying that fee for another four (4) years.
Will I need to keep paying that fee in the future, after I take the new e-learning module?
No. Coaches will only be asked to pay the fee of $85 once. After that, they can access the e-learning module as often as they need to.
What happens if I am new to this, take the Make Ethical Decisions training, and I cannot get the online evaluation done prior to April 1st, 2026?
You will be able to take the new e-learning module at no charge. However, if you are doing this to go to a WCL national championship, keep the registration deadlines for coaches in mind! The first championship is the U19, U17, U15 event in Grand Prairie, Alberta from April 24-26.
If you end up having to finish up your work for the Make Ethical Decisions module on or after April 1st, then it is very likely that you will be paying the last chance registration fee for coaches for the (U19, U17, U15) nationals. This past year, that meant a cost of $150 + applicable sales tax for coaches who registered late!
Review the technical packages for the event to understand what the deadlines are.
I see an email from the Coaching Association of Canada in either my inbox or my spam folder. Is that supposed to happen?
Yes. The Coaching Association of Canada will be sending reminders by email to all those who fall in the situation described just above: the person has completed their training, but not yet passed the evaluation.
