Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) was saddened to learn of the passing of Brock Wrestling Club junior coach Kekoo Gatta. Gatta, 60, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, swimming in the Niagara River.

Gatta was heavily involved in the Ontario wrestling community. He acted as a mentor, coach and leader through his role with the Brock Badgers Wrestling Club. Gatta was also involved with the Jamaica Wrestling Federation, where he guided U17 athlete Ezekiel Ivri.

Gatta was the founder and owner of Gatta Homes, a luxury development company based mainly in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gatta Get’Em on the Mat Fund. Established in the past year, this fund is dedicated to supporting young athletes in wrestling, helping to alleviate financial burdens and encouraging the next generation of wrestlers.
