Wrestling gets underway at 2025 Canada Games
ST. JOHN’S – The wrestling competition at the 2025 Canada Games officially got underway on Aug. 20 from Glacier Arena in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
The competition is divided into two portions; a team ‘duels’ competition where provinces and territories face off against each other, and an individual competition. Provinces and territories are divided into two pools and face all the other teams in that pool. Once all group stage duels have taken place, teams will cross over and face the corresponding team for final placements (i.e. 1st in Pool A vs. 1st in Pool B to determine gold/silver).
Men’s and women’s teams were in action with up to 11 weight classes on each side being contested. After the first day, a total of 32 duels had taken place. While some teams have completed more than others, the standings are starting to take shape.
