2025 Canadian Wrestling Championships concludes with Greco-Roman

TSUUT’INA NATION, AB — The final day of the 2025 Canadian Wrestling Championships (U19, U17, U15) concluded from the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex and Jim Starlight Centre in Tsuut’ina Nation, Alberta on April 27 with Greco-Roman Wrestling for men and women in all three age groups.

U19 Results

In the U19 age group, British Columbia was victorious finishing as the top province on both the men’s and women’s side. The Club Team awards were won by Guru Gobind Singh WC for the men and Alberta Elite Women’s WC for the women. The Most Outstanding Wrestlers for the age group were Basil Morowat, from The ROC, who won the men’s 60kg weight class and Taranpreet Dhillon, from Canadian Mal WC, who won gold in the women’s 53kg.

U17 Results

In the U17 age group, it was also British Columbia who took the top honours for the men and women. The Club Awards went to Saskatoon Junior Huskies for both the men and women. Most Outstanding Wrestler awards were given to Muhammad Turajev, Metro Amateur WC, who won the 60kg men’s weight class and Ava Hay, from Lakehead WC, who took gold in the women’s 61kg.

U15 Results

Finally at U15, British Columbia completed the provincial awards sweep, winning again on both the men’s and women’s side. Awards for the Top Clubs were claimed by Guru Gobind Singh WC for the men and Alberta Elite Women’s WC for the women. Makar Besedin, from The Roc WC earned Most Outstanding Wrestler winning the men’s 52kg, while Saana Sharma, from Alberta Elite Women’s WC won the women’s 54kg and claimed the Most Outstanding Wrestler.

The next national championship will be the Canadian Wrestling Championship (Senior, Junior, Cadet) May 29-31 in Edmonton. WCL looks forward to seeing the wrestling community again at this event.
