2025 Canadian Wrestling Championships continue with junior competition

EDMONTON — The 2025 Canadian Wrestling Championships (Senior, Junior, Cadet) continued May 30th from the Clare Drake Arena on the University of Alberta campus in Edmonton. After an exciting opening day that saw champions crowned in the cadet age group, it was the junior age group’s chance to impress the crowd. In total, 152 athletes took to the mats looking for a national championship, in one of 10 weight classes for both the men and women, in addition to a spot on the Canadian national junior (U20) team.
Junior Women
British Columbia wrestlers continued their strong performance at the event, taking seven gold medals in the junior women’s division, on route to being named the top province. The list of gold medalists included: Kamryn Mason, Coast RTC, at 50kg; Madisyn Grof, Coast RTC, at 55kg; Agnia Krakovska, Coast RTC, at 57kg; Ella Finding, Coast RTC, at 59kg; Lene-Marie McCrackin, Burnaby Mountain WC, at 68kg; Kiki Idowu, Burnaby Mountain WC, at 72kg; and Rupinder Johal, Burnaby Mountain WC, at 76kg.
The Club Team Award for the junior women went to Coast RTC.
The Most Outstanding Wrestler on the women’s side was awarded to McCrackin after winning all her matches by either fall or superiority.
Junior Men
British Columbia also ended the day on top in the junior men’s division. They finished with six gold medalists including: Karson Brown, Coast RTC, at 61kg; Khalin Radev, Burnaby Mountain WC, at 65kg; Kade Brown, Coast RTC, at 70kg; Rohit Bal, Canadian Mal WC, at 86kg; Michaeljeet Grewal, Burnaby Mountain WC, at 92kg; and Tejvir Dhinsa, Burnaby Mountain WC, at 97kg.
The Club Team Award for the junior men went to Burnaby Mountain WC.
Nick Hooper, Dinos WC, was named the junior men’s Most Outstanding Wrestler for his performance at 74kg.
The 2025 Canadian Wrestling Championships wrap up on Saturday, with the much-anticipated senior division in action. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m. Spectators are welcome to attend the event, tickets can be purchased at the door. The event is also streamed on FloWrestling.
