Cadets capture 11 medals at Pan-Ams
GUATEMALA CITY – Canada brought its medal total to 11 after four men took home hardware on the final day of the Cadet Pan-American Championships.
Lachlan McNeil and Carson Lee each collected silver medals after falling to Americans in their gold medal matches.
McNeil, of Team Impact, lost a close battle against Hunter Lewis, falling 8-8 in the 55 kg weight class.
At 80 kg, Lee, of Jr Huskies Wrestling Club, couldn’t match USA’s Gerrit Nijenhuis.
Nicolae Gandrabura and Magnus McCrackin both won their bronze medal bouts. Gandrabura, of Montreal YMHA, medalled at 60 kg, and Edmonton Bears Wrestling Club’s McCrackin was wrestling in the 71 kg weight class.
The Canadian men finished third overall in the team score behind USA and Mexico.
On Saturday, the Canadian cadet women finished second overall after collecting seven medals on the day.
