Coast WC Cleans Up on Day 2 of Cadet / Juvenile Championships

(Windsor, ON) – The second day of full competition at the 2017 Cadet / Juvenile Canadian Wrestling Championships, Women’s Cadet & Juvenile champions were crowned and awards presented to outstanding cadet and juvenile athletes, clubs and teams for 2016. Also on the line were Men’s Cadet Team Trials, which served as a ranking event for cadet national team nominations.

Based on ballots submitted during the competition, the Outstanding Cadet Women’s Award was presented to Victoria Seal from the Coast Wrestling Club and the Outstanding Juvenile Women’s Award was presented to Sara Brinkac also of the Coast Wrestling Club.

Other awards presented included:

  • Club Team Award Cadet Women: Coast Wrestling Club (BC)
  • Club Team Award Juvenile Women: Coast Wrestling Club (BC)
  • Provincial Team Award Cadet Women: Team Ontario
  • Provincial Team Award Juvenile Women: Team British Columbia

As part of the awards presentations, Wrestling Canada Lutte presented the cadet awards for 2016. Based on the previous season’s international results, the Cadet Female Athlete of the Year was presented to Kirti Saxena from Akhara of Champions Wrestling Club. Kirti capped the season with 5th places at both the 2016 Cadet Pan American Championships and the 2016 Cadet World Championships.

Wrestling Canada Lutte thanks the 2017 Canadian Championships Organizing Committee, University of Windsor and the Essex Wrestling Club for hosting the Championships.

The final day of wrestling at the St. Denis Centre at the University of Windsor on Sunday will include Women’s Cadet Team Trials, as well as Greco-Roman Team Trials, Juvenile Greco-Roman and Women’s Greco-Roman wrestling.
