Haislan Garcia, a three-time Canadian Olympian is originally from Guanbacoa, Cuba but now calls Coquitlam, British Columbia home since becoming a Canadian citizen in 2007. Garcia competes with Team Impact Wrestling Club and is one of Canada’s most veteran wrestlers. He will be competing in his eighth World Championships in Budapest, Hungary this year in the 70 kg weight class after winning the 2018 World Team Non-Olympic-Weight Trials. Garcia has plenty of international experience, as he has competed at three Olympic Games (2008, 2012, 2016), seven World Championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017), four Pan American Championships (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), and one Pan American Games in 2015. 

Some of Garcia’s most notable results include: 

 –       11^th at the 2016 Olympic games in the 65 kg weight class

–        7^th at the 2012 Olympic Games in the 66 kg weight class

–        Bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games in the 65 kg weight class

–        Bronze at the 2011 & 2010 Pan American Championships in the 66 kg weight class

–        Silver at the 2009 & 2008 Pan American Championships in the 66 kg weight class

–        5^th at the 2010 World Championships in the 66 kg weight class
