August 26, 2017

(Paris, France) – The final day of Senior World Championships was a mix of highs and lows with longtime UWW referee Lee MacKay being honoured for his outstanding officiating career. Team Canada also faced disappointment after Haislan Garcia fell short of a medal match at 65 kg.

Michael Asselstine, wrestling at 70 kg, lost 0-9 to Ganzorig of Mongolia in the qualification round and was eliminated. Jevon Balfour, wrestling at 74 kg, fell 3-4 to Cakici of Germany and was also eliminated.

Overall, Team Canada came away with two bronze medals from Michelle Fazzari (58 kg) and Justina Di Stasio (75 kg), as well as 7th place finishes from Linda Morais (60 kg) and Korey Jarvis (125 kg).
