(Paris, France) – The final day of Senior World Championships was a mix of highs and lows with longtime UWW referee Lee MacKay being honoured for his outstanding officiating career. Team Canada also faced disappointment after Haislan Garcia fell short of a medal match at 65 kg.

Garcia, wrestling at 65 kg, fell 0-3 in his first match to eventual silver medallist Gadzhiev of Poland. In the repechage rounds, he bounced back to win 5-5 against Kim of North Korea. He missed advancing to the bronze medal match after a 9-10 loss to Nurykau of Belarus.

Michael Asselstine, wrestling at 70 kg, lost 0-9 to Ganzorig of Mongolia in the qualification round and was eliminated. Jevon Balfour, wrestling at 74 kg, fell 3-4 to Cakici of Germany and was also eliminated.

Overall, Team Canada came away with two bronze medals from Michelle Fazzari (58 kg) and Justina Di Stasio (75 kg), as well as 7^th place finishes from Linda Morais (60 kg) and Korey Jarvis (125 kg).
