Renowned coach David López joins WCL as Performance Analyst Coach

Calgary – Wrestling Canada Lutte’s new Performance Analyst Coach will be distinguished coach David López.

López joins WCL’s technical leadership team with over 25 years of coaching experience. He has served as wrestling coach at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Aguascalientes State and Nuevo León State. López has also worked as the Coaches Educator for Mexican Sports Commission since 1999 and United World Wrestling from 2014 to 2017. He is a respected international authority in performance analysis and research.

“I am aware of the teamwork approach and excellence mindset that distinguishes coaches, athletes, parents, volunteers, and staff which compose WCL,” said López. “I cannot wait to start to work and grow together with such a great, committed and passionate wrestling community by sharing my expertise.”

López will be responsible for the analysis of athlete performances both domestically and internationally, as well as for designing training materials and training modules. He will also take part in coaching Team Canada athletes as they prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

“David is an experienced and internationally well-regarded coach and will be an important asset for Wrestling Canada Lutte in preparations for Tokyo 2020,” said Tamara Medwidsky, WCL Executive Director. “David will be a valuable member of our high performance team and his expertise and experience will be invaluable.”

López will begin with WCL immediately and will work out of Calgary.
