Seal and Lee siblings win Junior Canadian titles in Saskatoon

March 23, 2019

SASKATOON – Two sets of siblings claimed gold medals national team spots at the 2019 Junior Canadian Championships.

Alexia and Victoria Seal of the Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Club will compete together on a national team for the second time after representing Canada as cadets in 2016. Alexia won the 50 kg final 10-1, while Victoria won the 53 kg gold medal match in dramatic fashion, coming back from a 6-0 deficit with a pin in the second half.

Carson and Hunter Lee, from Flin Flon, Man., grew up wrestling each other in their backyard. They both dominated their fields, after Carson won the 79 kg gold medal match with a pin and Hunter was victorious in all three of his round robin matches by technical fall. Carson and Hunter both train and compete for the Saskatoon Wrestling Club

Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Club swept the team titles, winning both the men and women, while the hometown Saskatoon Wrestling Club finished second on the men’s side and third on the women’s.

The Outstanding Wrestlers of the tournament were awarded to Alexia Seal, and Patrik Leder, of Team Impact. Leder won the 70 kg gold with a technical fall.

The provincial team titles went to Ontario on both the men’s and women’s side.
