OTTAWA – In consultation with local health authorities, United World Wrestling and Wrestling Canada Lutte are taking preventative measures to minimize the risk of spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The event will now be closed to spectators. The tournament will be run with only team members, essential staff and limited family members in attendance due to the evolving global situation regarding COVID-19. In addition, the opening ceremony planned for 4 pm today has been cancelled.

These decisions have been made in the best interest of fans, athletes, coaches, officials and staff.

For fans who have purchased tickets, a full refund will issued in the coming days.

We encourage the entire wrestling community to self-assess if they have any symptoms and avoid unnecessary contact with others.

We are monitoring the situation as it evolves and will put out further communication if anything changes.
