OTTAWA – Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and teammates of Lucas Hoffert, who has passed away.

Lucas began wrestling at a young age in Saskatoon before moving to Regina, where he continued his development and became an accomplished member of Saskatchewan’s wrestling community.

He represented Canada at the 2012 Cadet World Championships in Azerbaijan and Team Saskatchewan at the 2013 Canada Summer Games, where he won a silver medal and helped the team earn bronze. In 2015, Lucas won national junior silver medals in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle, as well as a silver medal in Greco-Roman at the Junior Pan American Championships.

Lucas went on to have a distinguished university career with the University of Regina, becoming a two-time Canada West champion and three-time silver medallist. He captained the wrestling team from 2014 to 2018 and concluded his university career with a U SPORTS silver medal.

WCL joins Saskatchewan Wrestling and the broader Canadian wrestling community in remembering Lucas and celebrating the lasting impact he had on the sport and the people fortunate enough to know him.
