Wrestling Canada Lutte announces 2019 tournament calendar
OTTAWA – The tournament calendar for Wrestling Canada Lutte’s 2019 season has been announced. Canada Cup will be hosted in Calgary, the Junior / Senior Canadian Championships are set for Saskatoon and the U17 / U19 Canadian Championships will be held in Fredericton.
Canada Cup
The Jack Simpson Gymnasium on the University of Calgary campus will welcome Canadian and international wrestlers to the tournament on June 30, 2019.
“The Dinos Wrestling Club and the Canada Cup of Wrestling Society are pleased to welcome the Canada Cup of Wrestling back to the Jack Simpson Gymnasium at University of Calgary for 2019,” said Dinos Wrestling Club Coach Mitch Ostberg.
“We previously hosted this event from 2000 to 2002 and saw spectacular international wrestling action culminating in outdoor finals in downtown Calgary on Canada Day in 2002. We look forward to welcoming the world to Calgary and the 39th presentation of the Canada Cup of Wrestling.”
Junior / Senior Canadian Championships
On March 22-24, 2019, the Saskatoon Field House will host the top Canadian junior and senior wrestlers at the Junior / Senior Canadian Championships.
“The Saskatoon Wrestling Club is honored to be named the host city for the 2019 Canadian Junior / Senior Wrestling Championships,” said Gil Wist, Host Committee Chairman for the championships.
“We will be utilizing the Saskatoon Field House as our venue and look forward to putting on an exciting and eventful Canadian Championship.”
U17 / U19 Canadian Championships
The U17 / U19 Canadian Championships will be hosted in Fredericton April 5 to 7, 2019. The competition will crown under 17 and 19 Canadian champions, and serve as a selection event for the 2019 cadet teams.
“The Black Bears Wrestling Club, and the city of Fredericton are excited to host the U17 / U19 Canadian Wrestling Championships,” said Don Ryan, Black Bear Wrestling Club coach and Wrestling Canada Lutte President.
“Lutte NB Wrestling has a long tradition of hosting championships in the province and we welcome all athletes, coaches, officials and spectators to the east coast for this competition”
Information regarding the Trials for the 2020 Olympic Games will be released in the coming weeks.
