Wrestling Canada Lutte seeking host bids for 2028 Pan-American Olympic Qualifier
OTTAWA – Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is inviting communities, host organizing committees, sport tourism organizations and event partners from across Canada to submit proposals to host the 2028 Pan-American Olympic Qualifier.
Scheduled for March 31-April 2, 2028, the event would bring the top wrestlers from across North, Central and South America to Canada to compete for qualification spots for the 2028 Olympic Games.
Hosting the qualifier would provide a unique opportunity to showcase Canadian wrestling on the international stage while giving Canadian athletes the advantage of competing at home during a critical step on the road to the Olympic Games.
“Bringing the Pan-American Olympic Qualifier to Canada would create an incredible opportunity for our athletes, coaches and wrestling community,” said Tamara Medwidsky, WCL CEO. “It would also allow us to welcome some of the best wrestlers in the Americas while showcasing our ability to host world-class international events.”
Through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process, WCL is seeking information from potential hosts regarding venue suitability, accommodation capacity, transportation infrastructure, volunteer resources and community support. The information gathered will help determine the feasibility of submitting an official bid to United World Wrestling (UWW).
The successful host community would welcome athletes, coaches, officials and delegates from throughout the Pan-American region while benefiting from international exposure, tourism impacts and the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for wrestling in Canada.
Interested organizations are encouraged to review the complete RFP package and engage local stakeholders, tourism agencies and municipal partners as part of their bid development. Bids can be submitted to [email protected] .
The deadline to submit proposals is July 31, 2026.
