Canadian Wrestling Championships continue with Day 2 action from Grande Prairie
GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB— The 2026 Canadian Wrestling Championships (U19, U17, U15), continued April 25th from the Design Works Centre in Grande Prairie, Alberta. After an exciting first day, that featured the U17 Men and Women, along with the U19 Women, it was the U15 Men and Women and the U19 Men’s turn to compete for national titles.
U19 Men
It was a dominating performance for British Columbia wrestlers in the U19 Men’s division as they captured seven of the 10 gold medals. The medals were won by: Clarence Jayden Brion, Coast Wrestling RTC, at 51kg; Jeremy Lynch, Coast Wrestling RTC, at 55kg; Mustafa Fahel, Takedown WA, at 60kg; Ekam Mann, Khalsa WC, at 71kg; Illia Anoshyn, Coast Wrestling RTC, at 80kg; Harjot Shergill, Canadian Mal WC, at 92kg; and Uday Billen, Rustom WC, at 125kg.
The rest of the medals were won by Jack Aucoin, The ROC, at 48kg; Diyaal Johal, The ROC, at 65kg; and Chase Mitchell Riley, Top Gun WC, at 110kg.
The top team in the Men’s U19 division went to Coast Wrestling RTC who finished with 32 points, four better than second place The ROC.
Ekam Mann was named the age group’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.
U15 Men
The U15 Men’s division saw six different provinces claim at least one gold medal. Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario led the way with three each. Alberta’s gold medalists were: Daniel Gurevich, The ROC, at 34kg; Kai Eskerod, The ROC, at 38kg; and Serhii Dymytrov, Dinos WC, at 41kg. B.C.’s golds went to: Mathew Kinane, Coast Wrestling RTC, at 48kg; Yohan Singh Bains, Takedown WA, at 68kg; and Manveer Grewal, Guru Gobind Singh WC, at 100kg. Meanwhile, earning the hardware for Ontario were: Logan Cowey, Team Impact, at 57kg; Lorenzo Cedrone, Matmen WC, at 62kg; and Uros Veselinov, Matmen WC, at 75kg.
The other gold medals were won by: Renan Desautels, Advanced WA, at 44kg; Damyan Cornea, Montreal WC, at 52kg; and Ryan Unrau, WAMMA Niverville, at 85kg.
The top team for the U15 Men went to Matmen WC who finished with 29 points, seven better than Team Impact who had 22.
The most outstanding wrestler was awarded to Serhii Dymytrov.
U15 Women
Ontario women won the most golds in the U15 division, capturing a total of five. The winners were: Sinead Davidson-Wood, Mariposa WC, at 46kg; Samreen Kaur, Akhara of Champions, at 62kg; Ainslie Niemann, Kingston WC, at 66kg; Anreet Dhindsa, Warriors WC, at 70kg; and Taylor Thoms, Mariposa WC, at 80kg.
British Columbia featured a trio of winners including: Olivia Toor, Coast Wrestling RTC, at 39kg; Nicole Mojica, Takedown WA, at 54kg; and Jashan Dhami, Khalsa WC, at 58kg. Alberta had a pair of gold medalists: Lila Papalia, Lakeland Legends WC, at 36kg; and Megha Sharma, Alberta Elite Women’s WC, at 42kg. The final medal was won by Quebec’s Taylor Tritton, Tritton WC, at 50kg.
The team award went to Khalsa WC with 16 points, Takedown WC was second with 10.
The U15 Women’s Most Outstanding Wrestler was Nicole Mojica.
The Canadian Wrestling Championships conclude tomorrow with Greco-Roman Wrestling for men and women in all three age groups. Wrestling begins at 9 a.m. local.
