“My dad instilled a love for this great sport, which stuck with me throughout, for which I am grateful. I was fortunate to have a long career with the support of wonderful coaches and teammates who are lifelong friends. It is an honour to receive this award and be recognized among my heroes”, said Erica after being informed of her induction.

Erica was one of the first female wrestlers to represent Canada at the Senior World Championships in 1993, and went on to represent Canada at numerous international competitions over a 16 year period. Erica, a 9-time Senior Canadian Champion, had six top 5 finishes at the Senior World Wrestling Championships, coming home with 2 medals, a silver medal in 1999 and a bronze in 2007.

“Erica is epitomized as a pioneer for younger generations of female wrestlers. She is a shining example of how hard work, determination, and passion can help one accomplish their goals”, said Paul Ragusa, a former coach of Erica’s from the Dinos Wrestling Club.

“On behalf of the Awards and Hall of Fame Committee, we are pleased to welcome Erica to the Wrestling Canada Hall of Fame, joining other female wrestling pioneers such as Christine Nordhagen”, stated Tamara Medwidsky, Executive Director. “Erica’s athletic accomplishments have brought both pride and distinction to Wrestling Canada, and women’s wrestling in Canada.”

The Wrestling Canada Lutte (formerly Canadian Amateur Wrestling) Hall of Fame was established in 1975 to recognize outstanding achievement and contribution to Olympic wrestling in or for Canada. The Athlete Category formally recognizes the achievements of those wrestlers who have represented Canada at major international competitions or Games. The Builder Category formally recognizes the contribution, leadership and abilities of those individuals who participate in the development of wrestling. This category is open to any individual who has served or is serving wrestling as a Coach, an Official, an Administrator, a Manager or a combination of these functions.
