Kim joins WCL as NextGen Central Coach & Pathway Manager

November 30, 2017

Toronto – Wrestling Canada Lutte is pleased to announce the addition of Kimin Kim as the NextGen Central Coach & Pathway Manager.

Kim will coordinate NextGen athletes and implement the NextGen program that feeds into the national performance objectives.

Kim has been with Toronto’s Team Impact Wrestling Club since 1995. He began working with national teams since 2000, and has been a coach at all age groups at the continental and world championships.

He has had a close relationship with the sport since he began wrestling in high school. Kim competed for Brock University before getting involved in coaching.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with the NextGen athletes and their coaches, and I look forward to sharing resources and on and off the mat coaching support,” said Kim. “Through this partnership with the training centres, my goal is to elevate the quality and quantity of the athletes while monitoring and encouraging the growth and progress of targeted wrestlers toward the Olympic podium.”

Along with developing targeted NextGen athletes, Kim will be responsible for working closely with WCL’s sport partners, setting performance targets, and contributing to the development of WCL’s Podium Pathway.

“Kimin will be a fantastic addition to the WCL coaching staff,” said Tamara Medwidsky, Executive Director. “He has a proven record of developing successful athletes and we are excited to have him working with the next generation of Canadian wrestlers.”

Kim begins his role as the NextGen Central Coach & Pathway Manager on December 1.
