Peter McCrackin and Carson Lee named Outstanding wrestlers on first day of U17 / U19 Championships

April 06, 2019

FREDERICTON – Peter McCrackin of the Edmonton Bears Wrestling Club and Carson Lee of Saskatoon Junior Huskies were named the U17 and U19 Outstanding Wrestlers of the Tournament on the first day of the U17 / U19 Canadian Championships.

McCrackin won gold at 60 kg after a 10-2 victory over Sorin Junior Iordache of Montreal YMHA in the gold medal bout.

Lee added to the junior gold he won at the Junior / Senior Canadian Championships in Saskatoon in March.

“I changed my mindset a little. When I was at Juniors, I was kind of thinking I had to win,” said Lee. “At this one I just focused on small things, like getting my attacks down and wrestling the way I like to wrestle.”

The Championships are taking place from April 5 to 7 at the Aitken University Centre on the University of New Brunswick campus in Fredericton.

Certain United World Wrestling cadet age men will compete tomorrow at the Cadet Team Trials. The trials will be used as a selection event for the 2019 Cadet World Championships and 2019 Cadet Pan American Championships.

Other awards presented included:

Club Team Award U17 Men’s Freestyle: Edmonton Bears Wrestling Club

Club Team Award U19 Men’s Freestyle: Team Impact Wrestling Club

Provincial Team Award U17 Men’s Freestyle:  Ontario
