OTTAWA – After a successful inaugural campaign in 2022, Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is once again participating in GivingTuesday and is asking for your support! GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement that sees charities, companies and individuals join together to rally for their favorite causes, is November 28^th. It is a day that many organizations, that support numerous causes, are hoping Canadians heed the call for and donate to a cause that matters to them. WCL is no different as each year the costs of developing programs, wrestlers and competing around the world increases.

2023 will mark the 11th anniversary of GivingTuesday. The movement harnesses the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change; it provides a platform to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address challenges.

WCL’s mission is to provide leadership, support and safety nationally to our athletes and other participants in pursuit of international podium success with a vision of achieving sustainable international excellence through the growth of wrestling in Canada. Key areas of focus include: culture, governance & management, podium performance, return to sport through development, and sport promotion.

To accomplish these responsibilities and goals, significant resources are required. That is why on this GivingTuesday, WCL is asking the wrestling community to support these and other initiatives.

WCL, as a federally incorporated not-for-profit corporation and Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), is able to issue charitable tax receipts for income tax purposes upon receipt of donations from individuals and corporations. Tax receipts are available for donations in excess of $50.00. Please refer to WCL’s Donations & Tax Receipt Policy for more details.

WCL’s success is well documented. Throughout the years we have produced 17 Olympic medalists, 14 senior World Champions and 64 Senior World Championship medalists, in addition to numerous medalists and champions at other ages and events. However, we are always striving for the best and would love to see those numbers increase. Through your donations, not only is more international success possible but it also helps to grow the sport at the community level.
