Women’s Cadet Trials & Greco-Roman Competition Completes 2016 Championships
(Calgary, AB) – The Greco-Roman portion of the 2016 ASICS Cadet / Juvenile Canadian Wrestling Championships as well as the Women’s Cadet Trials have finished, ending the University of Calgary event.

Wrestling Canada Lutte thanks the University of Calgary, the Dinos Wrestling Club and the organizing committee for hosting a well-run and well-attended Championships.
For Greco-Roman, in addition to the medals being presented, awards were announced. Based on ballots submitted during the competition, the Outstanding Juvenile Men’s Greco-Roman wrestler award went to 85 kg champion Justin Shannon of the Mountaintop Wrestling Club. The Outstanding Women’s Greco-Roman wrestler award went to Wolfpack Wrestling Club’s Hannah Taylor at 60 kg.
Other Greco-Roman awards presented included:
- Club Team Award Juvenile Men’s Greco-Roman: Akhara of Champions Wrestling Club
- Provincial Team Award Juvenile Men’s Greco-Roman: Team Ontario
Canada next plays host to 2 international tournaments, the Nordhagen Classic hosted in Calgary at the Olympic Oval on May 14th and the long-standing Canada Cup, being hosted in Guelph on June 25th. The Nordhagen Classic will be part of a larger combat sport event initiative, which will also feature the “ Canadian Open Judo Championships” and “Canadian National Taekwondo Championships”. Wrestling Canada Lutte is proud to partner with Judo Canada and Taekwondo Canada on this initiative.
