In 1992 to recognize the athletic achievements of senior wrestlers who’ve reached the podium at the World Championships and Olympic Games, Wrestling Canada Lutte established the Quest for Gold fund. Since inauguration, over $148,000 in grants have been awarded to athletes through the Quest for Gold fund for sixty-two (62) medal performances.

This year, at the Senior World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Wrestling Canada Lutte had a record setting Championships that saw four Canadian wrestlers reach the podium. Justina Di Stasio, from the Burnaby Mountain Wrestling Club, became World Champion winning GOLD at 72 kg, Danielle Lappage, from the Calgary Dinos Wrestling Club, captured SILVER at 65 kg, Erica Wiebe, from the Calgary Dinos Wrestling Club, took home BRONZE at 76 kg, and Diana Weicker, from Brock Wrestling Club, secured BRONZE at 53 kg. Wrestling Canada Lutte is happy to award these athletes with $5000, $3000, and $2000 respectively.
