Wrestling Canada Lutte statement on COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
OTTAWA – Wrestling Canada Lutte is monitoring the COVID-19 virus and how it may impact upcoming events. We are closely watching the Government of Canada recommendations, the Sport Medicine Advisory Committee’s updates, and United World Wrestling guidance for our upcoming events.
The safety of our athletes, coaches, officials, and community is our top priority.
As of March 12, 2020, the Pan-American Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Junior / Senior Canadian Championships, and U17 / U19 Canadian Championships are all scheduled to proceed as planned. If anything changes between now and the start date of those competitions, we will update all registrants and our audience.
We encourage everyone attending these events to take precautions to minimize the risk of infection. Frequent hand washing, coughing or sneezing into your arm, and avoiding close contact with others are strongly advised.
The situation with COVID-19 is changing rapidly and we will provide further updates as they become available.
More information from the Sport Medicine Advisory Committee is available here.
