Cadet women bring home the hardware at the Cadet Pan-Am Championships

GUATEMALA CITY – The Canadian cadet women captured seven medals at the Pan-American Championships in Guatemala City.

The women were led by silvers from Vivcia Addo and Aleah Nickel. Addo, of the Edmonton Bears Wrestling Club captured silver in her 46 kg round robin. Swift Current Titant Nickel took home the 61 kg silver.

Serena Di Benedetto, Victoria Seal and Anika White all picked up bronze medals. Di Benedetto, Canada’s lone 15-year-old medallist, captured her medal 43 kg. Seal, of Coast Wrestling Club, and White, of the ROC Calgary Wrestling Club picked up medals at 53 kg and 73 kg.

Earlier in the day, two Canadian secured bronze medals in their round robins. Halle Bachiu of Team Discipline took third in the 40 kg division, and Vianne Rouleau of Edmonton Bears Wrestling Club captured bronze at 69 kg.

Nyla Burgess led in her 65 kg bronze medal match but was pinned by Brazil’s Anibal Ribei.
