Canadian team set for Senior Pan Am Championships

LIMA, Peru – Wrestling Canada Lutte is sending a team of 24 to the 2018 Senior Pan American Championships in Lima, Peru.

The Championships run from May 3 to 6, and feature men’s and women’s freestyle, and men’s Greco-Roman wrestling.

Korey Jarvis, Jevon Balfour and Jordie Steen are fresh off medal performances at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and will be looking to continue their international success.

Jarvis, or Elliot Lake, Ont., captured silver at the games, while Balfour and Steen brought home bronze medals.

A number of senior team rookies will be looking to leave their mark on the international scene. First time senior team members include Jade Dufour, Alexandria Town, Temitope Ogunjimi, Alex Moher, Josh Bodnarchuk, Alexander Chaves, Joseph Dashou, John Yeats and Brayden Ambo.

At the 2017 Pan American Championships in Salvador Da Bahia, Brazil, Canada took home 12 medals, consisting of five gold, two silver, and five bronze.

The Championships will serve as a qualifying event for the 2019 Pan American Games, also taking place in Lima, July 26 to August 11, 2019.
