U19 men and women, and U15 men, battle during day two of the 2022 Canadian Wrestling Championships

TSUUT’INA NATION, AB – The 2022 Canadian Wrestling Championships continued on June 11 with the U19 men and women, along with the U15 men, vying for supremacy at the at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex & Jim Starlight Centre, in Tsuut’ina Nation, AB. It was an exciting day of wrestling with many hotly contested matches.

U19

When all the matches were complete it was Saskatchewan who took home the Provincial Team Award with 56 points, on the women’s side. As for the men, it was British Columbia who captured the Provincial Team Award with 97 points.

Winning the U19 women’s Club Team Award was the Saskatoon Jr. Huskies, with 29 points, edging out Coast Wrestling Academy, from Burnaby, B.C., who finished second with 22. On the men’s side, Canadian Mal WC, from Surrey, B.C., topped the team standings with 23 points, narrowly beating The ROC WC who finished with 22.

Most Outstanding Wrestler awards for the U19s went to Annika Fines, from Dinos WC who won gold in the women’s 49kg weight class. Nathan Rainville, from Patriotes de Saint-Césaire was the men’s Most Outstanding Wrestler, he earned gold in the men’s 71kg weight class.

U15 – Men

The U15 men’s division saw British Columbia take the Provincial Team Award. B.C. had a dominant showing and topped the standings with 105 points.

The Club Team Award went to Canadian Mal WC, who tallied 26 points. That was four better than second place Guru Gobind Singh WC, from Abbotsford, B.C.

Team Impact WC’s Aristidis Mantis was named the age group’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. Mantis captured gold in the 57kg weight class.

Tomorrow, the event wraps up with Greco-Roman wrestling for all age groups and weight classes. You won’t want to miss a second.
