Born in Herning, Denmark in 1949, Kjeld moved to Victoria, BC in 1965 where he contributed many significant years to the sport of wrestling as an official.

In addition to being a member of the WCL Hall of Fame, inducted in 2004 in the Builder category, he was named Honorary FILA E member and awarded the FILA Gold Star for his exceptional officiating at the international level. To recognize wrestling officials with 25 years of service to the Canadian Association of Wrestling Officials, the “Brodsgaard Award” was created in Kjeld’s honour.
