WCL Joins Abuse-Free Sport

December 29, 2022

OTTAWA— Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement to join Abuse-Free Sport, the new independent program to prevent and address maltreatment in sport.

WCL and its participants now have access to the services of the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC), which serves as the central hub of Abuse-Free Sport.

“WCL believes that everyone has the right to participate in a safe and positive sport environment. Joining Abuse-Free Sport is another positive step WCL is taking in its commitment to improving and building this culture,” Tamara Medwidsky, Executive Director of WCL, said. “We will continue to work in collaboration with the entire Canadian sport community to advance the safe sport movement so that sport is safe and more secure for all our participants.”

As part of the transition to becoming a program signatory, WCL completed full adoption of the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS) and adopted a revised suite of safe sport policies.
